November 2nd, 2015
Effective Sunday, October 26, 2015, the ERICA system has been updated. Please find a summary of the changes below. For questions regarding these changes, contact the IRB at 801-581-3655 or email@example.com.
- A new page for Genetic Research has been added to the IRB New Study Application. The Genetic Research page must be completed for studies that perform genetic testing and/or analysis of genetic data. This new page will be required for all new studies and for applicable studies at continuing review. To review the IRB guidance on Genetic Research, please visit: http://irb.utah.edu/_pdf/IGS%20-%20Genetic%20Research%20H2215.pdf
- Additional text has been added to the Amendment Application, which clarifies that Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH) does not need to review changes to consent/parental permission/assent forms used at their location. When selecting the study locations affected by the changes proposed in an amendment, do not select “Primary Children’s Hospital” if the amendment only affects the PCH consent form. PCH should be selected for any other changes affecting their location.
Researchers conducting procedures at the Salt Lake City VA need to be aware of the additional administrative forms that may be required in addition to the IRB application.
The IRB has received several requests to allow the use of external research nurses who have contracted with a study sponsor to conduct research procedures with participants in their homes.
We are pleased to welcome a new Coordinator to the IRB.
Yan "Kiki" Wai, IRB Coordinator for Panel 2, has left the IRB. We are pleased to announce that Chantyl Staheli has been selected as the new IRB Coordinator for Panel 2.
The IRB is introducing Exemption Categories 8-11 as additional non-federal categories.
