Two-Factor Authentication Required for ERICA
May 19th, 2017
Starting on June 1st University employees, students, and committee members are required to use two-factor authentication (2FA) to login to the ERICA system.
This is the same authentication required for logging into University applications such as UBox, CIS and CANVAS. If you are currently registered for 2FA, you will login to ERICA using the same process. If you are not registered with 2FA, here is a summary and resources for registering.
Two-factor authentication (2FA) provides an extra layer of security by requiring a user to log in with a username/password combo plus a second method of verifying the user's identity.
The second method is something the user has physical access to, like a cell phone or tablet. This ensures that even if a hacker manages to obtain a user's login credentials, the information is useless without access to the user's secondary device.
- What kind of devices can be used: Smartphones, tablets, and/or a hardware token. The 2FA application is free to download
for smartphones and tablets. For more information, please visit the University's Information Technology Two-Factor Authentication page.
If you choose to use a hardware token, they may be purchased through the University Campus Store. If you need assistance getting a hardware token, please contact the IRB at 801-581-3655. - For more information and troubleshooting please refer to the UIT's Identity & Access Management, Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) page.
Please contact the IRB with questions at 801-581-3655 or irb@hsc.utah.edu.
