Recent Problem with IRB Expiration Notices

October 4th, 2017

The ERICA system recently experienced a problem with the automated IRB Expiration Notices.  We discovered that some studies were not receiving these automatically during the month of September, even though a study may have expired.

We have since corrected this problem so that all studies will now receive automated IRB Expiration Notices as normal on the expiration date of a study.  In correcting this problem, ERICA has retroactively sent out the IRB Expiration Notices for the necessary studies that should have received them in September.

If you received an IRB Expiration Notice this week for a study that has already been re-approved via Continuing Review since the date of expiration, your study is not expired. You should keep the retroactive IRB Expiration Notice for your records and move forward with your study using the re-approval date and new date of expiration.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the IRB at 801-581-3655 or irb@hsc.utah.edu.
